Driftpile Community School is located on a Woodland Cree First Nation amidst a beautiful setting surrounded by the Boreal Forest. The modern facility is shaped in an eagle's feather with governance consisting of Chief and Council. The community of Driftpile is between two larger centers namely Slave Lake and High Prairie.

The School serves K-4, K-5 to grade 8 students with a full academic program. Unique features of the programming are its Cree language and cultural components. Students not only learn to speak and write in their mother tongue but are also exposed to traditional dance, song, drumming and the learning of crafts and traditional folkore.

The School serves approximately 75 students with a staff equilvalent of 5 teachers. With low student enrolment teacher student ratios are ideal for effective learning and retention

The school has a Woodworking ( Industrial Arts ) program to further enhance the life skills for a variety of students who upon furthering their education may opt to go into the Trades.

Surrounding the School yard are traditional tipis that give the flavor of a cree village. Ultimately the village will serve as a tourist attraction whereby students will be able to share their cultural roots with visitors from all around the world.
